By Randy Vogt, Director of Public Relations, Eastern New York Youth Soccer AssociationFebruary 14, 2023-The more than 100,000 players and coaches in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) from the East End of Long Island to the Canadian border love soccer but our non-profit organization is so large that many have a name that makes Valentine’s Day special to them:

22 players and 1 coach in Eastern New York have Valentine as a last name. Nobody has it as a first name.

28 players and 9 coaches have Valentino as a last name

. Nobody has it as a first name.A whopping 227 girl players and 1 male coach have Valentina as a first name as this name has become much more popular through the years. Nobody has Valentina as a last name.

16 female players, 12 male players and 1 male coach agree that “Love will find a way” as Love is their first name. An additional 59 players and 31 coaches have “love” in their last name.

3 girls are named after the Roman goddess of love. 1 has Venus as a first name while 2 have it as their surname.

176 female players, 9 male players and 3 female coaches have Rose as their first name. An additional 390 players and 29 coaches have “rose” in their surname.

55 female players, 3 male players, 4 female coaches and 3 male coaches all use Rosa as their first name. 58 players and 7 coaches have “rosa” in their last name.

Sending Flowers? Then send them to the 5 players with Flowers as their last name.
1 female player has the first name of Candy.

17 players and 14 coaches have Sweet as their surname.
If you sang, “That’s Amore,” 14 players and 2 coaches might turn around as “amore” is in their last name. An additional 15 players have “amour” in their surname.
We play soccer, not Cupid, so nobody has Cupid in their name but 20 players and 1 coach have “arrow” in their surname.
With approximately 100,000 youth soccer players––both boys and girls––and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with 10 leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators. All levels of soccer are offered––from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Children With Special Needs. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away. ENYYSA is a proud member of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer. For more information, please log on to http://www.enysoccer.com/
