October 26, 2018-Things are looking up for Shayna Levy. She is a senior at the University of Rochester and was recently named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the 7-6-1 Yellowjackets while serving the team as its captain.

The Brewster resident will be graduating next May and already has a position lined up as an investment banker at Nomura Bank, the Japanese financial holding company, at its Manhattan office.

Shayna plays internationally for Israel, having started in central defense in 2015 for the Israel Girls-Under-19 Youth National Team and also has two caps with the Israel Women’s National Team.

In youth soccer, she played for the North Salem Jaguars and FC Lewisboro Xtreme, both of the East Hudson Youth Soccer League (EHYSL), and FC Sting 96 of the Westchester Youth Soccer League (WYSL). The Sting made it all the way to the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) Girls-Under-15 State Open Cup finals in 2012 before losing to Farmingdale United, 3-0.

At North Salem High School, Shayna led the Tigers to two quarterfinal and two semifinal playoff berths and was honored two-time All-State, two-time League Player of the Year, two-time All-Section and three-time Varsity Scholar Athlete while maintaining a 99.29 GPA.

We wish Shayna the best as she finishes her college soccer career next month.

With over 100,000 youth soccer players––both boys and girls––and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with nine leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators. All levels of soccer are offered––from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Children With Special Needs. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away. ENYYSA is a proud member of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer Association. For more information, please log onto http://www.enysoccer.com/, which receives nearly 300,000 hits annually from the growing soccer community.
