2015, 2014 and 2013 Age Groups
First round of tryouts for the 2015, 2014 and 2013 age groups begin earlier than usual this year.
Additional tryout dates are listed below so families can plan ahead should their child advance to the next round.
Registration Fee: $50
Prospective players may register for the North or South tryout location that is most convenient for them. Multiple dates and locations are being offered for flexibility; however, players may only attend one tryout location/date.

ODP Tryout FAQ’s
Any player within the appropriate age group who registers with USYS is eligible to participate in ODP tryouts. You tryout in the state where you live.
Registration link for tryouts is completed online through GotSport. Click on the links provided on the tryout registration page and complete the tryout registration process.
Yes, there is a $50 tryout fee, which covers the cost of the evaluation process and includes an ENY ODP Training Shirt for players to keep.
Players should bring cleats, shin guards, a soccer ball, a water bottle, and wear white socks and black shorts. A tryout shirt will be provided to all attendees but please bring a light and dark shirt just incase.
Players will participate in small-sided games, technical drills, and tactical evaluations. Coaches will assess technical skills, tactical awareness, physical attributes, and mental toughness.
Tryouts typically last 75 to 90 mins.
No, players must try out for their designated age group based on their birth year.
Players will be notified of their selection status within two weeks of the tryout session. Notifications will be sent via email. Please ensure the email address is that of a parent and is monitored.
Coaches evaluate players based on their performance during tryouts. Selected players are invited to join their respective age group pool for training and competition.
Players not selected are encouraged to continue developing their skills and try out again the following year. Participation in club soccer and supplemental programs can enhance their chances in the future.
Yes, tryouts are required for all players who wish to participate in the ODP program.
If you are unable to attend a tryout session you must first register for the session and then contact Bryan Knight (South) or Wendy Beavers (North) with your reason for not attending. Failure to attend will result in your previous scores being used as your evaluation.
No specific shirt is required as ENY ODP provides a tryout shirt for each player. Shorts should be black and socks white wherever possible.
Parents are welcome to observe tryouts but must remain in designated viewing areas to avoid interfering with the evaluation process.
Coaches evaluate players on technical skills (e.g., dribbling, passing, shooting), tactical understanding (e.g., positioning, decision-making), physical fitness, and mental attributes (e.g., attitude, coachability, focus).
ODP tryout evaluations are final. While feedback may not be provided, players are encouraged to develop their skills and try again in the future.
Yes, tryout dates and locations are listed on the ENYYSA website. LINK HERE. Check this carefully as there are multiple tryouts in numerous locations! If your age group is not listed please check back periodically as it is updated frequently.
Players are expected to attend all scheduled tryout sessions unless they have communicated unavoidable conflicts in advance.
There are typically 3 tryouts. All players can attend the first round of tryouts which are held in multiple locations. Note: Players can only attend one first round tryout – even if there are 2 “first round” tryouts within driving distance of you. The second and third round of tryouts are by invitation only.
NO on-site registration will be available. All players must register online in advance to secure a spot.
ODP players are selected on Technique, Tactical Ability, Fitness/Athleticism, and Attitude.
