June 8, 2026-In a game between two teams from Long Island, Atlantic United Aspire 10G won the Peter Masotto Cup by defeating the South Shore Strikers, 10-0, on Saturday, May 30 at the Blue Sky Sports Complex in Middletown. It is Atlantic United’s second consecutive State Cup Championship.

The cup’s namesake was an East Region Hall of Famer and U.S. Soccer Life Member who volunteered as Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) President from 1984 to 2006 and coached the Massapequa Falcons girls team to the 1988 national championship.

Atlantic United coach Kim One explained, “It was a complete team effort. Our midfield played beautifully and moved the ball well while our defense was solid.”

Bella Iannitti, Maija Koski and Angie Wong each scored two goals while Charlotte Furey, Victoria Gagliardi, Brooke Pfeiffer and Callie Sapp each tallied one.

Atlantic United will represent Eastern New York as they play for the national championship on July 13 to 20 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Atlantic United also received the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award as determined by the game officials.

Amoroso, a US Soccer Life Member who died a decade ago, started the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) Sportsmanship Program in 1980 and it spread to Eastern New York, nationally and then to China and Ireland, and in the process, made soccer games kinder and gentler.

With over 100,000 youth soccer players––both boys and girls––and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border, east of Route 81. ENYYSA encourages the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators. All levels of soccer are offered––from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Children With Special Needs. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away. ENYYSA is a proud member of US Soccer and US Youth Soccer. For more information, please log on to http://www.enysoccer.com/
