Isabel A Byrne, born June 10, 1937 in Bayside, NY passed away April 18, 2016 from complications of bladder surgery near her home in Massapequa. Isabel was an active member of the community for more than 50 years, but soccer was her passion. She was part of a group of parents who campaigned to get the girls soccer program started within the Massapequa School District and was deeply involved in Massapequa Soccer Club. She was a coach, referee, and administrator. For several years she tirelessly ran for participated in organizing the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) for girls Region 1. Isabel was also our secretary at one time and was inducted into the ENY Hall of Fame in 1999. Reposing Wednesday, 7-9 PM and Thursday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home Inc., 3863 Merrick Rd., Seaford (2 Traffic Lts. East of Rte. 135) Mass of Christian Burial Friday 11 AM at St. William the Abbot RC Church, Seaford.
