Stormville’s Jake Keegan, who played for the East Fishkill Thunder of the East Hudson Youth Soccer League (EHYSL) for 12 years and in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) Olympic Development Program for five years, is currently second in the nation in men’s college soccer in scoring, behind Canadian Daniel Haber of Cornell with nine goals. Jake has seven goals and his seven tallies lead the 3-5-0 Binghamton Bearcats. A senior forward, Jake scored seven goals in both his freshman and junior seasons and three goals as a sophomore. During his illustrious collegiate career, Jake’s 24 goals and 60 points are both Binghamton University program records during its 12-year NCAA Division I era. He set the record on September 3 in a 2-1 victory against Army at West Point.
Last year, while playing for the Westchester Flames in the Professional Development League (PDL), Jake continued to add to his impressive list of accomplishments, being named PDL Rookie of the Year and also being named to the All-Conference and All-League teams. He was a big bright spot for the 5-7-4 Flames, tallying 16 goals in 16 games to take the league goal-scoring crown, accounting for 64% of Westchester’s goals in 2011. He also finished third in the league in points with 34.
A leader in the classroom as well, Jake has also been named to the America East Academic Honor Roll as well. As the two-time captain of John Jay High School, he was named to the All-Section team three times, All-State
twice and All-Region once as well as Section 1 Player of the Year, rolling up 79 goals and 45 assists during his
high school career. Jake also scored two goals in the final to give the Hudson Valley boys scholastic team a 4-2
Gold Medal win over Long Island in the 2008 Empire State Games.
Jake’s club team, the East Fishkill Thunder, captured both the State and Regional Cup crowns in 2009 on their way to a third place finish in the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships.
Soccer runs in the family as his father with the famous soccer name of Kevin Keegan also grew up in the Hudson
Valley and played college soccer for the UC-Davis Aggies.
