May 22, 2018- 2018 has been a very good year so far for the Lake Grove/Newfield Dynamite of the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL), currently ranked number one in the state. Lake Grove/Newfield had a perfect 6-0-0 record in recently becoming champions of the Eastern New York Premier League (ENYPL) and are in the semifinals of the State Open Cup, playing FC Somers on May 22 in Selden.

They also have a perfect 6-0-0 record in the Eastern Development Program (EDP) and are near the top of the standings with a 3-2-2 record in the Eastern Regional League.

“Our team’s biggest asset is our work ethic as the boys play extremely hard in both games and training. We have a long way to go but we improve weekly,” commented Lake Grove/Newfield coach Tim Graham. “Our defense is organized and deep in talent while our midfield seeks to possess and, despite our lack of size and pace, we are beginning to become technical enough to control most games. Our attack is decent and although scoring can become difficult, we are able to capitalize on team’s mistakes and often counter successfully.”

The ENYPL is the oldest continuous Premier League in the United States and is playing in its 18th year in 2018. Under the leadership of Andreas Touros, the ENYPL is the Gateway to Regional Play and teams from eight member leagues from all over the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) formed the ENYPL for the 2018 Spring Season.

With over 100,000 youth soccer players––both boys and girls––and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with 11 leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators. All levels of soccer are offered––from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Children With Special Needs. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away. ENYYSA is a proud member of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer Association. For more information, please log on to http://www.enysoccer.com/, which receives nearly 300,000 hits annually from the growing soccer community.
