December 14, 2016-The Eastern New York Premier League (ENYPL) just completed its 16th year in 2016 and is the oldest continuous Premier League in the United States. A first this year was the Inaugural ENYPL College Showcase, hosted by the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) at Flushing Meadows Park in Queens on Saturday, December 10.

Unlike many other college showcases, this one was completely free for all participants with all 64 players receiving T-shirts from Eastern New York. The Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 age groups played at 10:30 am and the Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 age groups played at 12:15 pm with teams made up of players from the ENYPL.

”A huge thank you to Kosmos coach Fabian Banchero, Valley Stream Warriors coach William Miller and Veras coach Juan Pablo Veras for coaching the teams. They did an excellent job of managing these all-star players,” commented ENYPL Chairperson Andreas Touros. ”The organization of the showcase was great and will be even better for next year.”

The games were scouted by local college and junior college coaches, who complimented the high level of play. With a successful Inaugural ENYPL College Showcase under its belt, plans are afoot to try and add girls showcase games in 2017 as well.

With over 100,000 youth soccer players––both boys and girls––and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with 11 leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators. All levels of soccer are offered––from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Children With Special Needs. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away. ENYYSA is a proud member of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer Association.
