June 20, 2018-The Franklin Square Academy of the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) shut out the Washingtonville Warriors Blue of the East Hudson Youth Soccer League (EHYSL), 4-0, to win Boys-Under-14 Arch Cup Platinum. The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) championship game was played at the Peter Collins Soccer Park in Plainview on June 9.

“Our win today really started with our team dinner last night and we were mentally focused during the warm-up and played really well from the very first whistle,” stated Franklin Square coach Max Kimbarow.

Tyler Balsamo scored two goals, Tyler Lanci and Alessandro Perna each added one while keeper Gino Cervoni had the shutout in goal.

Franklin Square also received the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award as determined by the game officials. Amoroso, who died two years ago, started the LIJSL Sportsmanship Program in 1980, it has since been copied around the world and he spoke about the benefits of Fair Play across the United States.
