Poughkeepsie Strikers Win Boys-Under-11 Arch Cup Gold

June 16, 2018-The Town of Poughkeepsie Soccer Club Strikers of the East Hudson Youth Soccer League (EHYSL) shut out the West Islip Resistance of the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL), 7-0, to take Boys-Under-11 Arch Cup Gold on June 9 at the Peter Collins Soccer Park in Plainview.
 
Outman Aitsidiahmed and Davis Barnes scored two goals each while Ali Aitsidiahmed, Zach Cerbone and Daniel Kelly netted one apiece and Logan DeRocha recorded the shutout in goal.

“We just moved the ball really well and had a lot of scoring opportunities,” explained Town of Poughkeepsie coach Paul Abbatiello.
 
West Islip received the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award as determined by the game officials. The namesake of the award, who died in 2016, was inducted into the Halls of Fame of the LIJSL and Eastern New York plus was honored as a Life Member by U.S. Soccer.
