June 20, 2018-In a championship game between two Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) teams at the Peter Collins Soccer Park in Plainview on June 9, the Plainedge Power shut out the Massapequa Flash, 4-0, to win the Gold-Under-13 Arch Cup Platinum title.
 
Sophia Catlado had a three-goal hat trick, Kiera Reed added a goal and Samantha Pazos had the shutout in net.

Plainedge coach Jack Younghans explained, “Our girls really hustled and were the first to the ball, plus we played fundamentally-sound soccer."
 
Massapequa received the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award as determined by the game officials. The namesake of the award, who died in 2016, was inducted into the Halls of Fame of the LIJSL and Eastern New York plus was honored as a Life Member by U.S. Soccer. Amoroso started the LIJSL Sportsmanship Program in 1980, it has since been copied around the world and he spoke about the benefits of Fair Play across the United States.
