February 2, 2023-The first weekend of June will be a celebration of youth soccer as all the state champions will be crowned. On June 3 and 4 at Stringham Park in LaGrange, the finals of the State Open Cup, Challenge Cup and the new League America will be played.
While the State Open Cup and Challenge Cup are known to youth soccer aficionados in the Empire State, League America is new and is designated the top recreational tournament in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA). This US Youth Soccer initiative is designed to capture the spirit of the recreational youth soccer experience. League America is for Under-8 to Under-14 rec teams, both boys and girls. The semifinals will be played in the Hudson Valley and on Long Island and the teams that win the semis will meet, North vs. South, for the recreational state championship at Stringham Park on June 3 and 4.
Plans are still being developed for League America here in Eastern New York with more details to follow soon.
With approximately 100,000 youth soccer players––both boys and girls––and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with 10 leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators. All levels of soccer are offered––from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Children With Special Needs. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away. ENYYSA is a proud member of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer. For more information, please log on to
