Hauppauge Hurricanes to Host a Comedy Night to Help Pay for the Cost of Their Trip to IberCup USA

By Randy Vogt, Director of Public Relations, Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association

January 23, 2018-In a competition at the Peter Collins Soccer Park on November 25 of the top four Boys-Under-14 teams of the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL), the Hauppauge Hurricanes booked their place for IberCup USA by defeating Stony Brook Santos, 3-0, in the semifinals (two goals by Mark Aliscio and one from Luke Augeri) and topping Uniondale Aguila, 2-1, in the finals (Hauppauge goals by Aliscio and Brandon Palma). Hauppauge is also the defending state champs, having won the State Open Cup in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) last June.

The prestigious IberCup USA tournament will be played from March 28 to April 1 in Dallas. Through this unique partnership agreement, the LIJSL IberCup Champion receives an automatic invitation, and paid acceptance, with the team’s hotel, meals and ground transportation costs paid for by the tournament. The value of the package is estimated to be more than $10,000.

IberCup USA representative Jim Vogt said, “We selected the LIJSL because of the overall competitiveness of the league, especially at the Pre-Academy level.”

However, Hauppauge is still responsible for the costs of their airfare to Dallas so they are hosting a fundraiser on Thursday night, February 1. Governor’s Comedy Clubs @ McGuires at 1627 Smithtown Avenue in Bohemia is the venue and the show starts at 8:00 pm with the doors opening at 6:30 pm.

“We will be having a 50/50 and raffles for gift baskets and would love to have more donations of gift baskets and to bring the attendance up for this event by selling more tickets at $25 per admission,” commented Hauppauge team parent Krisztina Abbate. “We can fill up to 80 more seats. However, they are not payable at the door and must be paid for in advance.”
