December 13, 2012-Hurricane Sandy, the largest Atlantic Ocean hurricane on record, created great hardship in New York City, its suburbs and in New Jersey. Families, homes and even soccer fields of our members in the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL), Staten Island Youth Soccer League (SIYSL) and Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) suffered unprecedented destruction, causing thousands of games to be cancelled.
Upstate in the Albany suburb of Saratoga Springs, the weather was a good deal calmer including at the offices of SportsSignup. Through its innovative software, SportsSignup provides secure, easy-to-use applications for online registration, fee payment processing and background checks for sports organizations such as the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA), a loyal customer.
At the Eastern New York Holiday Party on December 1 at Lido Restaurant on City Island, SportsSignup announced a $10,000 donation to the ENYYSA leagues most affected by Hurricane Sandy. The CJSL, LIJSL and SIYSL each received $3,300.
"We are a national company but New York State is our home and even members of our own families have been affected by Hurricane Sandy," commented SportsSignup CEO Anthony Bruno. "We wanted to give to these organizations to help them get back on their feet."
"On behalf of the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League, I thank you and I’m truly at a loss for words to express my gratitude for your generosity and kindness," replied CJSL President Burt Wilkes. "Be assured that your contribution will be disbursed to those in need so that we can help ease their grief."
"This money will help us with our Christmas care packages to our kids who lost everything," SIYSL President Bill Smith said. "Our league will be giving each child a set of shin guards, a ball and $50 gift cards for cleats. We have 62 kids as of now who need help and I know we have more. People like SportsSignup CEO Anthony Bruno and VP Matt Scarchilli are truly friends of soccer for the kids of Staten Island and Eastern New York."
"This wonderful donation is a very welcome surprise to the kids of the Long Island Junior Soccer League," commented LIJSL President Addie Mattei-Iaia. "The money will be going to the players in our league who need it the most. Thank you, SportsSignup!"
