April 2, 2014-The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) is very pleased to announce that qualification to represent Eastern New York in the Presidents Cup will be held at the Long Island Soccer Shoot-Out on August 16 and 17, 2014. The Long Island Soccer Shoot-Out is hosted by the Stony Brook Soccer Club and Sachem Youth Soccer League of the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL). It is played at two of New York State’s largest soccer complexes: the Three Village Soccer Park, on the campus of Stony Brook University, and the Waverly Avenue Soccer Complex in Holtsville.
“We are delighted to partner with Stony Brook and Sachem in having their annual tournament host the Presidents Cup qualifiers this August,” commented Eastern New York President Richard Christiano. “Qualifications will be hosted by different clubs throughout our state in future years.”
“The Long Island Soccer Shoot-Out is proud to be hosting Eastern New York’s Presidents Cup,” said Long Island Soccer Shoot-Out tournament director Gina Titus. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our older teams to advance to the Regionals and compete against the best within their skill levels. All Shoot-Out teams can expect a festive atmosphere with music and entertainment. This year, the Red Bulls’ street team will dazzle us with their skills and have a first team player on site to sign autographs and take pictures.”
For those travel teams not yet considered elite, the Presidents Cup offers an opportunity to play regional competition just like the State Open Cup does. The winning teams this August will represent Eastern New York at the Regional Presidents Cup in Pittsburgh in May 2015 for the right to qualify for the Presidents Cup national championship.
