August 7, 2020-The East Hudson Youth Soccer League (EHYSL), with 15,000 registered players in 60 clubs and eight different counties, has announced its scholarship winner. Nicole Bugilosi is a recently-graduated high school senior on her way to Harvard University this fall.

At Croton Harmon High School in Croton-on-Hudson, Nicole had a cumulative GPA of 4.15 on a scale of 4.00, scoring very high SAT scores while ascertaining a straight A academic record. President of her school's National Honor Society chapter, Nicole played both soccer and basketball and served as team captain for both sports' varsity teams. As the captain for the EHYSL’s Cortland Vipers for the past few years, she stated in her essay that she has learned about leadership and how to manage expectations.

Nicole is a Gold Award winner for teaching senior citizens how to use their smart technology, volunteers as CYO head coach for 3rd grade basketball and has been a Co-President in the local Girl Scout chapter.

The league has distributed the $1,000 Michael J. Goldberg Scholarship Award for over 30 years in memory of a young EHYSL player who passed away prematurely. In normal times, the scholarship recipient would have been celebrated along with the division champs at the EHYSL Dinner of Champions held over two nights in July. These are obviously not normal times although EHYSL hopes to resume its Dinner of Champions next summer.

With approximately 100,000 youth soccer players––both boys and girls––and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with nine leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators. All levels of soccer are offered––from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Children With Special Needs. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away. ENYYSA is a proud member of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer Association. For more information, please log on to http://www.enysoccer.com/, which receives nearly 300,000 hits annually from the growing soccer community.
