New York Elite FC Top West Islip Blizzard, 2-1, in the Heat at LaGrange

By Randy Vogt, Director of Public Relations, Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association
June 13, 2013-In the balmy weather at Stringham Park in LaGrange on June 1, New York Elite FC of the Capital District Youth Soccer League (CDYSL) defeated the West Islip Blizzard of the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL), to win the Boys-Under-10 ENY Upper 90 Cup.
Colin Bullock and Grant Baker scored the goals for New York Elite FC to give the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) title to the team from Albany.
"I thought that it was an even game," commented New York Elite head coach Scott Szeli. "But I thought that our possession made the difference. West Islip is a great team!"
West Islip received the Howard Rubenstein Sportsmanship Award as selected by the match referees. Now living in Ohio, the remarkable namesake of this award was seemingly involved in every facet of New York soccer for decades and is a member of the Halls of Fame of Eastern New York, the US Amateur Soccer Association and the Long Island Junior Soccer League.
