Manhattan Espoli Top Istria/Met Oval 2-1, to Win the Boys-Under-16 ENY Upper 90 Cup

By Randy Vogt, Director of Public Relations, Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association
June 10, 2013-Mother Nature made a significant difference in the Boys-Under-16 ENY Upper 90 Cup final when a swarm of bees at Stringham Park in LaGrange caused the game to be switched to a more narrow field that was adjacent.
"We changed our game plan from ball possession to quick counterattacks because of the change to a smaller field," said Manhattan Espoli coach Colin Hutzler.
The tactics worked as Manhattan of the Westchester Youth Soccer League (WYSL) defeated Istria/Met Oval of the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL), 2-1, with Didi Diallo scoring both Manhattan goals.
"We were weathering the storm as Istria/Met Oval had the better of play," Coach Hutzler added. "Our keeper, Conor McStay, came up huge."
This is Conor’s first season in goal. This Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) championship game was played on June 2.
