Long Island Soccer Referees Association Holding February Course to Certify Youth Soccer Refs

February 1, 2013-The Long Island Soccer Referees Association (LISRA) provides officials for nearly 1,000 Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) and Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) games every weekend during the spring and fall as well as during summer outdoor and winter indoor tournaments. With so many youth soccer games to cover, LISRA is always in need of good officials so it is holding a course in February to certify entry-level (Grade 8) referees.
Prospective referees must attend all classes:
Tuesday, February 12
Wednesday, February 13
Tuesday, February 19
Thursday, February 21
Monday, February 25
Wednesday, February 27
All classes will be held at the Plainedge High School, 241 Wyngate Drive, North Massapequa, NY 11758 and run from 6:30 to 9:30 pm each night. Class check-in begins 15 minutes before the first class. The fee is $115 if you are 16-17 years old and $123 if you are turning 18 in 2013. The minimum age to become a certified Grade 8 referee is 16. The class is limited to the first 50 people who have registered plus paid and will close one week before the start of the first class.

All candidates will need to pass a US Soccer rules test the last night of the class before becoming certified to referee soccer games. Any questions, please contact LISRA at or 631-648-8877.
