Lajos Geenen Honored as Boys Recreation Coach of the Year by Eastern New York

By Randy Vogt, Director of Public Relations, Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association Lajos_Geneen_for_Web

October 6, 2020-The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) is pleased to announce that Lajos Geenen is our Boys Recreation Coach of the Year. Lajos was nominated by Metrokids Youth Soccer League (MYSL) Manager Juan Alvarado.

Lajos founded the Hunter’s Point Soccer Club in 2016 with help from Juan. The club is loosely affiliated with top Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam and he coaches boys from Under-10 to Under-12.

Juan wrote that Lajos “respects everything he has learned, his players are stimulated and motivated to learn the sport. He has a Dutch coaching license and adopted the Dutch training philosophy of Total Soccer. Every player is an active part of each practice and he particularly helps those players who are not picking up skills as quickly as the others. Lajos lives in Long Island City and he works with coaches there and in neighboring Astoria to help children reach their potential on the soccer field.”

Congratulations to Lajos!

With approximately 100,000 youth soccer players––both boys and girls––and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with nine leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators. All levels of soccer are offered––from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Children With Special Needs. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away.
