June 15, 2019-In an Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) championship game between two Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL) teams, Kickers Juniors Eagles of Southeast Queens shut out Brooklyn’s SC Gjøa Nordtveit, 3-0, in the Boys-Under-12 Arch Cup final on June 1 at Stringham Park in LaGrange.

“We pressured well and didn’t give them a chance to control the game. We were first to the ball at all times,” said Kickers Juniors coach Lorne Bullen.

Jaden Rose scored two goals, Kernice Wilson added one and keeper Andrew Ballon had the shutout in goal.

Gjøa did not go home empty-handed as they received the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award as determined by the game officials. The namesake of the award, who died in 2016, was inducted into the Halls of Fame of the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) and Eastern New York plus was honored as a Life Member by U.S. Soccer. Amoroso started the LIJSL Sportsmanship Program in 1980, it has since been copied around the world and he spoke about the benefits of Fair Play across the United States.
