January 8, 2013-The Long Island Soccer Referees Association (LISRA) has been faithfully providing officials for all Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) and Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) State Cup and Premier League games since LISRA’s inception in 1971.
Games were at one time officiated by just one referee but all matches on Long Island from Under-13 on up are now officiated by a referee and two assistant referees. So the demand for qualified officials continues to grow as soccer continues to grow. Approximately 1,000 travel team soccer games are played on Long Island during busy spring and fall weekends.
U.S. Soccer’s Grade 9 Recreational Course (otherwise known as the Assistant Referee course) will be held on the weekend of January 26 and 27. Attendees need to register to reserve a seat and get a uniform. Class is limited to the first 100 for the morning session and first 100 for the afternoon session. If you send a check, it must arrive by January 15 and be mailed to LISRA G9 Class, 701-9 Koehler Ave., Ronkonkoma, NY 11779.
Participants either attend the morning or afternoon sessions but must attend both days:
Saturday, January 26-8 am to noon or 1 pm to 5 pm
Sunday, January 27-8 am to noon or 1 pm to 5 pm
All attendees have to be born before June 30, 1999. The class will be held at Wilson Tech, 17 Westminster Ave, Dix Hills, NY 11746. The course is $153 for those who were 18 years or older last year and $145 for those who are younger.
There is a mandatory parent’s meeting which begins same time the class starts on Saturday, January 26 and lasts approximately an hour.
PayPal appears only at the end of the registration process so please have a credit card ready (if paying by credit card) before logging on to http://www.lisoccerrefs.org/
Please complete the uniform size or you will not receive a uniform.

With 123,843 youth soccer players––68,587 boys and 55,256 girls––and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with 12 leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators. All levels of soccer are offered––from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Special Children. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away. ENYYSA is a proud member of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer Association. For more information, please log on to http://www.enysoccer.com/, which receives nearly 300,000 hits annually from the growing soccer community.
