FA Euro Allievi Defeat the Smithtown Dynamo, 6-3, to Win the Boys-Under-15 ENY Upper 90 Cup

By Randy Vogt, Director of Public Relations, Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association
June 11, 2013-In a high-scoring championship game, FA Euro Allievi from Brooklyn and the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL) defeated the Smithtown Dynamo of the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL), 6-3. This Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) final was played on June 1 at Stringham Park in LaGrange.
Steve Fernandez and Nick Garzon each scored two goals plus Giancarlo Franco and Kelton McGregor each added one for FA Euro. Their Allievi name comes from the name of the Boys-Under-15 and Boys-Under-16 age group in Italy.
"It was a very good game, soccer-wise and discipline-wise. Smithtown was very nice and the referee did very well," said FA Euro coach Pietro Asaro. "We passed the ball well and I thought that we were very tactical as well and that resulted in our win."
Smithtown received the Howard Rubenstein Sportsmanship Award as selected by the match referees. Now retired, Mr. Rubenstein was seemingly involved in every facet of New York soccer for decades and is a member of the Halls of Fame of Eastern New York, the US Amateur Soccer Association and the Long Island Junior Soccer League.
