Elmont Roma Top the Levittown Gunners, 4-3, to Take the Boys-Under-11, Small-Sided, Arch Capital Group Cup

By Randy Vogt, Director of Public Relations, Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association
June 19, 2013-Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was the Elmont Roma youth soccer team, who have been playing together for the past few years. The Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) team defeated another LIJSL squad, the Levittown Gunners, 4-3, on June 8 at the Peter Collins Soccer Park in Plainview. The game for Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) supremacy in the Boys-Under-11 Arch Capital Group Cup was played 8 vs. 8.
"We prepared very well and we executed," said Elmont coach Gerneil Lorne.
Connor McMahon, Savvas Christoforou, Amir Daley and Balthazer Saunders scored for Elmont.
Levittown received the Howard Rubenstein Sportsmanship Award as selected by game officials. Now living in Ohio, the remarkable namesake of this award was seemingly involved in every facet of New York soccer for decades and is a member of the Halls of Fame of Eastern New York, the US Amateur Soccer Association and the Long Island Junior Soccer League.

"This cup competition is a great event in that it gives young people an opportunity to experience high levels of competition. And you don’t have to be the best team in the state to win a championship with the Arch Capital Group Cup," said Brian Hughes, Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary of Arch Capital.
With 123,843 youth soccer players––68,587 boys and 55,256 girls––and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with 12 leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81.
