April 28, 2014-The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) is very pleased to announce a new competition for the Division 1 champions of our respective leagues.

The Eastern New York Champions Cup will be played on Saturday, June 21––the boys will be playing at Stringham Park in LaGrange in the Hudson Valley while the girls compete at Owl Hollow Fields on Staten Island. Champion teams from Division 1 from the Capital District Youth Soccer League, Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League, East Hudson Youth Soccer League, Long Island Junior Soccer League, Staten Island Youth Soccer League and Westchester Youth Soccer League will be competing against one another in the Under-13, Under-14 and Under-15 age groups.

The Under-14 and Under-15 semifinals will kick off at 9 am at both venues while the Under-13 semis start at 11 am. The Under-14 and Under-15 finals will be played at 2:30 pm and the Under-13 championship games kick off at 4:30 pm.

Should there be a tie after regulation in any game, the match will be decided by a shootout. The two finalists gain automatic entry into the Eastern New York Premier League (ENYPL) for next season.

“While the volunteers of Eastern New York have organized a State Open Cup for decades to determine the best team in the state in a cup format, we have never had the respective league champions play against one another in an official competition. The Eastern New York Champions Cup will give league champion teams the opportunity to play against one another in one venue on one day,” said Richard Christiano, President of the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association.

With 123,843 youth soccer players––68,587 boys and 55,256 girls––and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with 11 leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators. All levels of soccer are offered––from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Special Children. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away. ENYYSA is a proud member of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer Association.
