Welcome tryouts for the 2007-2008 Eastern New York Youth Soccer Assn. Girls North Olympic Development Program (ODP). The tryouts are conducted by a highly-qualified team of coaches who will will form our coaching/instructional staff.

To assist those players who are eventually chosen, we’ve outlined here what the plan is for the ODP year.

After the third and final fall tryout, approximately 20 players will be selected for the State ODP team in that player’s particular age group. ANOTHER 10-15 players will be selected to continue to participate through the winter in the State ODP Pool. After four winter training sessions, five of those pool players will be added to the age group’s State Team.

Specifics of the practice and playing agenda are as follows:

Practices:

· After the teams are selected, we plan on conducting four skills-oriented skills sessions at indoor facilities in the region. These will start in January and run through early March and they will be held at the Hudson Valley Dome in Milton, NY. Dates and times will be announced.

· In early April, as soon as weather permits, we will start outdoor practices. These practices will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and be held at in Beekman, NY (near Poughkeepsie).

All practices are mandatory. Attendance will be kept and unexcused absences will be a cause from dismissal from the team. We do work closely, however, with our clubs and follow these guidelines: ODP practices take precedence over Club practices; club games take precedence over an ODP practice; an ODP game takes precedence over a club practice; a club game takes precedence over an ODP friendly game; ODP tournament games take precedence over a club tournament game; and the regional ID tournament takes precedence over a club tournament.

ODP Regional Tournament: The Region 1 ODP Tournament (held in Mercer County, NJ the second weekend of June) is one of the two major ODP events in Region 1. This is a tournament comprised of teams from all 15 states in Region 1 of the United States Youth Soccer Association. Eighteen players from the ODP pool of 25 or so players are selected to take part in this tournament and attendance is mandatory..

ID and Development Camps: Towards the middle of July (dates TBD), a developmental camp will be held for our second youngest boys teams and developmental/identification camps will be held for all other teams. Identification camps serve to select a pool of players for the Region 1 teams. Attendance at these camps are mandatory.

Registration: The registration fee is approximately $400 and is due in full during registration, which will be done online. Players should not register until they find out if they are a team player or a pool player.) The fee includes uniforms and training fees. In addition to the registration fee, there will be extra fees of $100 for winter training, $250 plus (exact amount to be determined) for the Regional ID Tournament and $400 or so(exact amount TBD) for the Regional ID camp.
