Eastern New York defender Cari Roccaro has been selected to train with the U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team during a training camp at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. from Sunday, May 8 through May 16. The camp will run concurrently with the first week of the U.S. U-20 camp. Roccaro, who hails from East Islip, N.Y., plays for the Albertson Fury.
Coach Dave Chesler named 22 players and could add two more before the camp begins. This group will form the core of the players competing for spots on the team that will attempt to qualify for the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which has an age cutoff of players born on or after Jan. 1, 1992.
The U-18s will play three matches during the camp at The HDC, taking on the U.S. U-20s on May 9 at 9:30 p.m. ET, facing the women’s club Ajax of Los Angeles on May 12 at 10 p.m. ET and then taking on the LAFC women’s team on May 15 at 6 p.m. ET
