PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Daniel Bedoya struck twice within a 24-minute span in the second half to lift Eastern New York to a 2-1 comeback semifinal victory over North Carolina at the U.S. Youth Soccer ODP championships in the Boys 1994 semifinals on Friday night. Eastern New York will play California South in Sunday's 11 a.m. ET final at Reach 11 Sports Complex Cal South recorded a 3-0 win over Iowa on Friday.
In the semifinal matcfh, Matthew Tysinger had given Carolina the lead in the 33th minute as he book a ball off his chest and turned to shot to the far post. But Bedoya equalized in the 55th minute off a nice individual effort and scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal with another beauty of a shot a minute left in the game in the 79th minute.
California South jumped on the score sheet in the 16th minute against Iowa on a goal from Emilio Casas. Just before halftime Ivan Hernandez doubled the lead with a beautiful shot from 20 yards after dribbling across the field. Alberto Diaz then capped the scoring in the 69th minute
