Boston College forward Vicki DiMartino of Massapequa, N.Y. was named Soccer America's women's college freshman of the year.  Two other Eastern New York players were named to Soccer America women's MVP second team -- University of Maryland sophomore forward Jasmyne Spencer of Bay Shore, N.Y. and University of Connecticut senior defender Brittany Taylor of Campbell Hall, N.Y.

DiMartino, a graduate of Eastern New York ODP, led B.C. in scoring with 14 goals and six assists. The Eagles earned a share of the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title and reached the NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament quarterfinals for the first time.

Not surprisingly, DiMartino wass the third member of her family to be honored by Soccer America for her freshman accomplishments. Her older sisters, Christina (UCLA) and Gina (Boston College), received the magazine's All-Freshman honors in 2005 and 2006, respectively.
