Several familiar names from Eastern New York were called into the U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team training camp at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. from Dec. 13-20. They were defender Brittany Taylor of Campbell Hall, N.Y. and midfielders Tina DiMartino of Massapequa, N.Y. and Allie Long of Northport, N.Y.
The three were selected by coach Bill Irwin, who called in players from the college ranks and Women's Professional Soccer.
The age cut-off date for the U-23 side is players born on or after Jan. 1, 1986.
The U-23 camp overlapped with the full National Team's camp camp at the HDC, giving U.S. coach Pia sundhage and her staff an opportunity to evaluate the younger players in a competitive environment.
