Boys Group Play Completed at Region 1 Tournament
7/5/09

Sunday Reports

Huntington, W. Va. -- Inclement weather wreacked havoc with the final day of group play round play at the Region I tournament on Sunday. But one thing was certain: three boys teams from Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association reached Monday’s semifinals as of Sunday afternoon.

The three:

* FC Westchester Boys Under-13 (did not have to play on Sunday because it had accrued enough points)

* Dix Hills Thunder Boys U-14 (had accrued enough points after two matches)

* East Fishkill Thunder, which qualified on Sunday with a 2-1 win over Seacoast United (Maine) in Boys U-18

The weather forced Region I officials to cancel games between teams that were not essential to teams qualifying for the semifinal round.

Several other ENYYSA teams were playing in late afternoon that would determine their semifinal status.
