La Grange, N.Y. --  Here are the roundup of Open Cup results in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association’s State Cup at Stringham Park.

Saturday Roundup: Syosset S.C. Captures Two Open Cup Titles

A pair of girls teams from the Syosset Soccer Club won Open Cup titles on the first day of the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association’s State Cup competition at Stringham Park Saturday. The Syosset Arsenal captured the Under-13 championships with a 2-0 victory over the Massapequa Elite and the Syosset Rough Riders 92’ Elite took home the U-15 crown with a 1-0 win over East Meadow United.

The club has five teams competing in the Open and Challenge Cups. "I couldn’t be happier for the kids," Syosset S.C. president Gary Grossman said. "They have come a long way in the last five years."

In the U-13 match, Kimberly Kolodny and Colleen Reynolds scored for the Arsenal. In the Rough Riders’ triumph in the U-15 encounter, Shannon Farrell one-timed a cross into the net 15 minutes into the match.

Boys

U-11

Manhattan Kickers ’96 1, Clarkstown ’97 White 0

In a close match, the Manhattan Kickers ’96 defeated Clarkstown 97’ White. The Kickers are coached by Evan Rosenthal.

U-12 small-sided

FC Sting Blazers 4, Staten Island United Red Bull Alliance 1

Playing for Somers FC last year, the FC Sting Blazers lost in the U-11 final. This year the Blazers rebounded with a victory. "It was good for these kids," coach Erhardt Kapp said. "They tasted defeat last year and it hit them a little bit hard. This year they wanted to come back and prove themselves."

Angelo Materia scored two goals and Luke Rodiger and Tim Cousin had one apiece.

U-12

B.W. Gottschee Celeste II 3, FC Westchester 96 0

Arun Baslejevic scored twice, including on a penalty kick, and Jeremy Fedus added one for Gottschee.

U-13

Dix Hills Thunder 3, Long Island Rough Riders 0

John Interiano struck for a hat-trick for the Thunder, which captured its fourth consecutive State Cup title. Dix Hills coach

Bart Nason said repeating four times is "very hard. It takes a special group of kids, special dedication from parents, players and coaches."

U-14

Commack United 1, Blackwatch Midlothian 0

Sean Sepe scored in the first half to lift Commack to the victory. "Blackwatch played a strong game," Commack coach Charles Aronica said. "Our boys rose to the test. . . . A strong defense held them off."

U-15

FC Westchester ’93 3, Hicksville Strikers 0 

Gerardo Ceja scored two goals -- one in each half -- and Hiroki Kobayashi added another in the waning moments for FC Westchester.

Girls

U-11

Farmingdale United 1, North Rockland Avalanche 0

Mackenzie Palmer scored three minutes into the second extra-time to lift Farmingdale. Coach Brian Mulcahy said Palmer’s shot "took a funny bounce" on a slick field.

U-12 small-sided

Capital United Blue Heat

Capital United Blue Heat were declared champions. There was no competition in the final.

U-12

Massapequa Stars 2, East Islip Red Dragons 1

Amanda Garrity scored a minute into the game and Erica Modena added another goal 10 minutes into the second half for Massapequa.

U-14

Quickstrike Power 4, Albertson ’93 Fury 1

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Quickstrike struck for four unanswered goals in the second half. Nicole Rivera collected a hat-trick as the Fury scored an own goal.

"Tactically, we changed some things at halftime and calmed the girls down," Quickstrike coach Jesse Kohmel said. "We had to relax them. They were very uptight."
