Meet Cesar Markovic, ENYYSA Coaching Director
Cesar Markovic is the ENYYSA Director of Coaching.
Markovic, also the men’s head soccer coach at Stony Brook University, is in charge of the Boys and Girls North and South ODP program and is the state’s technical director. He is also responsible for Coaching Education, working with Michael Swanwick, the state’s Director of Coaching Education.
Markovic has a wealth of coaching experience, having coached at the college level for 12 years and at the high school level for another three.
He began his coaching career with St. John’s Prep in Astoria, Queens in 1991, guiding the team to the city and sectional championship in 1993, going from worst to first. He then went on to coach men’s soccer at Queensborough Community College in 1994. He was then the architect of winning programs at Hunter College and St. Peter’s College and is known as one of the premier recruiters of student-athletes from the New York area.
A native of Queens, NY, Markovic graduated from Hunter College with a BA in Political Science in 1992 and went on to earn his M.S. in Physical Education from Hofstra University in 1997. While at Hunter, Markovic was a two-time all-conference selection and the team’s leading scorer as a defender during his senior year.
Markovic had two stints in professional soccer, playing for Esmeraldas Petrolero in Ecuador in 1985 and Atlanta of the USISL in 1993.
